Jumping Off The Porch
Embracing Entrepreneurship

Taking the leap into full-time entrepreneurship feels like jumping off a porch into the unknown—a risk demanding courage, resilience, and a growth mindset. My true entrepreneurial journey began when I joined an accelerator program for my startup, FreeWriter. With my employer's support, I shifted to part-time work for four months, as they valued my aspirations beyond the office walls. Yet upon completing the accelerator, I faced an unexpected turn: my full-time position was terminated.
This pivotal moment presented a choice—view it as a setback or an opportunity. Armed with a growth mindset, I chose to trust myself and commit fully to my entrepreneurial dreams. After all, when one door closes, a world of possibilities opens. Through this journey, I learned that while a job offers immediate security, it never guarantees control over your employment status.
Filling the Void: Embracing New Opportunities
When faced with loss, it’s vital to view it as a chance to fill a void with new opportunities. Here are 2 business avenues I am exploring to serve the marketplace:
FreeWriter
Executing comprehensive business development through sales expansion, marketing initiatives, pilot testing, pitch competition participation, fundraising efforts, and ongoing research and development to drive growth and innovation
Designer Stories
Product Marketing and Management:
Specializing in product marketing and strategy for startups and tech companies, with availability for new contracts
Storytelling and Newsletter Operation:
Crafting engaging narratives and growing a dedicated reader base, currently aiming for 1000 paid subscribers
Business Writing Coach:
Guiding others to enhance their business writing skills through personalized coaching and retainer-based services
Each of these paths involves storytelling, a passion I hold dear, obviously. But, that’s me. How about you?
Launching a business doesn’t have to take long, nor does it require a complex startup model. Here are a few ways you can get to market in the next 30 days:
Daniel Priestley's CAOS Model: Focus on Concept, Audience, Offering, and Sales. This model emphasizes the importance of understanding your unique concept, who your audience is, what you're offering, and how you'll sell it. It's a structured yet flexible approach that can be tailored to various business ideas.
Timothy Ferriss's 4-Hour Workweek: This method challenges the traditional work paradigm by prioritizing efficiency and lifestyle design. By automating and outsourcing routine tasks, you can focus on scaling your business and enjoying a balanced life.
Freelance a Skill as a Service: Identify a skill you excel at and offer it as a freelance service. This is a quick way to test the waters of entrepreneurship, gain valuable insights into your market, and start generating income immediately.
Jumping off the porch into entrepreneurship requires a combination of passion, strategy, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. Are you ready to take the leap?
